Meet Your Photographer

Hello and thank you for visiting my page! My name is Samantha Beach and I LOVE being a photographer. I love other things too, like reading, painting, spending time with my family and, of course, long walks on the beach. However, I always come back to photography, no matter what I am doing.

Several years ago I found myself in a peculiar situation. It was middle of the day in July. The sun was out, it was hot and I was riding a bike. That isn't the strange part. I was riding this bike, strapped with a camera and following a horse drawn carriage. The carriage was carrying my bride and groom, and I was following them around Mackinac Island. I had a sudden "aha" moment. I get paid to do this! I was being paid to ride a bike on Mackinac Island, spending my day taking pictures and hanging out with a beautiful couple and their family. What a life!

Now that isn't to say my job isn't difficult. Taking the pictures is only the tip of the iceberg when it comes to what actually goes into creating beautiful images, but it is my favorite part. I am the type of photographer who is constantly checking out lighting situations. I'll be playing outside with my family in the evening and notice how they're catching the light just right. Mentally framing up potential shots.

I found my love for photography in a high school, visual communications class. The next year I took my first photography only art class. It was amazing. We started in film, working in darkrooms and learning the fundamentals of photography. I was hooked. Still am. After attending college for photography, and working with other photography professionals, I decided I was ready to take the next step. 8 years later, here I am, a successful business owner, living her passion.

I’ve been told that I am great to work with. It must be true because I enjoy working with my clients just as much. I try to capture every wedding, event or portrait session in it’s own unique light. I’d love to capture yours.
